Tie to be held in the Netherlands on March 4 and 5, 2022

On Sunday, at the Davis Cup by Rakuten Finals in Madrid, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Kosmos held the official draw ceremony for the 2022 tournament. In the Qualifiers, Team Canada presented by Sobeys will go head-to-head against the Netherlands, which will host the tie on March 4 and 5, 2022. The venue, surface and rosters will be decided at a later date.

Canada and the Netherlands, which haven’t crossed swords since 2018, will be meeting for the fifth time. In their last meeting, Canada defeated the Netherlands in Toronto. Canada is currently ranked no.6, and the Netherlands are no.20. The winner will qualify for the 2022 Finals in November.

After an incredible run in 2019 that carried Canada all the way to the final against Spain, the national squad struggled in the 2021 Finals without its top players and was eliminated after losses to Sweden and Kazakhstan in the opening round.

Croatia and the Russian Tennis Federation the 2021 finalists—automatically qualify for the 2022 Davis Cup Finals by Rakuten, and two wildcards were handed out to Great Britain and Serbia. A total of 24 teams will compete in the 2022 Qualifiers with 12 winners moving on to the Finals.
