Tennis Canada has announced its roster for the upcoming Davis Cup Qualifiers 1st Round tie, set to take place from February 6-7, 2026, at the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia. Captained by Frank Dancevic (Niagara Falls, ON), Team Canada will be comprised of Gabriel Diallo (Montreal, QC), Liam Draxl (Newmarket, ON), Alexis Galarneau (Laval, QC), Nicolas Arseneault (Richmond Hill, ON), and Cleeve Harper (Calgary, AB).

“We are very pleased to announce such a strong team for our upcoming Davis Cup tie in Vancouver,” said team captain Frank Dancevic. “Last year, for the first time in a long time, we didn't make it to the final stage of the competition, which has only motivated us even more to make it happen this year. It all starts now against an excellent Brazilian team, and I am confident that our players are ready to take on the challenge. Canadian tennis fans, we look forward to seeing you in Vancouver and count on your support as we begin our journey to the 2026 Davis Cup Final 8.”

Diallo is set to make his 10th Davis Cup appearance, all consecutive. The 24-year-old has a 4-1 record in Davis Cup play on home soil, and an overall record of 6-6. After a breakthrough 2024 season that saw him enter the world's Top 100, Diallo managed to take another step forward in 2025, winning his first ATP Tour title at the Libema Open, an ATP 250 event, and reaching a career-high ranking of No. 33. The Montrealer also advanced to his first ATP 1000 quarter-final at the Mutua Madrid Open.

Draxl, 24, receives his fourth team nomination and is 3-0 at the Davis Cup, having made his on-court debut in 2025 alongside Vasek Pospisil (Vernon, BC). In 2025, the Newmarket native played in his first ATP Tour main-draw match at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers (NBO). On the ATP Challenger Tour, Draxl won the Winnipeg National Bank Challenger, made seven finals – the most of any player on the circuit – and captured two doubles titles. He reached career-high rankings in singles (No. 113) and doubles (No. 110) this past season.

Laval’s Galarneau is making his 11th straight Davis Cup appearance. Last season, the 26-year-old won his first main-draw match on the ATP Tour at the NBO in Toronto, Ontario, defeating Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, the world No. 64, in straight sets. Galarneau reached five semi-finals on the ATP Challenger Tour and finished the year ranked No. 206 in the world. He is currently 5-7 in Davis Cup action and is in search of his first victory at the competition on Canadian soil.

Arseneault, the Richmond Hill native, earns his first call-up to Canada's Davis Cup squad. The highlight of the 18-year-old's 2025 campaign came at the NBO, where he reached the second round of the main draw with an impressive two-set victory over France's Valentin Royer, before falling to defending champion Alexei Popyrin of Australia in a closely contested match. Arseneault also joined the University of Kentucky's men's tennis team in 2025, the alma mater of his new teammates Diallo and Draxl.

Harper, Canada’s top-ranked doubles player at No. 94, has now been named to Team Canada for the third time. The Calgary native won three doubles titles in 2025, including two with teammate Draxl, and played in his first Grand Slam main draw alongside Dutch partner Jean-Julien Rojer. At the Davis Cup World Group I in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Harper made a winning debut, clinching his singles and doubles rubbers to help Canada qualify for the event in Vancouver.
