An iconic tennis venue in Montreal and across Canada, IGA Stadium is preparing to enter a new era.
Tennis Canada is taking a major step forward in its modernization efforts by unveiling its preferred scenario for the future of the site: the construction of a new three-season stadium and a complete redevelopment of the grounds, designed to integrate harmoniously with Jarry Park and its surrounding environment.
This direction reflects a clear commitment to preserving Montreal’s place among the world’s premier international tennis destinations, while evolving the facilities to better meet the needs of the sport and the community.
Designed to host the National Bank Open and support the growth of tennis, the future stadium would provide a more accessible, versatile, and environmentally integrated venue for the benefit of all users.

IGA Stadium is approaching the end of its useful life and no longer meets the requirements of the professional tennis tours. At a time when major international tournaments have modernized their facilities, taking action is essential to ensure that Montreal remains home to a world-class event.
Beyond the tournament itself, the National Bank Open plays a vital role: it generates significant economic benefits that are reinvested in the development of tennis in Quebec and across Canada.
To inform its decision-making, Tennis Canada conducted a feasibility study to evaluate a range of potential scenarios. This process identified the construction of a new stadium as the most sustainable, cost-effective, and long-term solution to meet the needs of the event, the sport, and the community.
The proposed project centres on a site redevelopment scenario including the construction of a new three-season stadium.
Key elements of the project would include:
As part of the project’s next phase, Tennis Canada launched a request for proposals to develop an opportunity study that will further refine the analyses and confirm the parameters of the selected solution. Preliminary discussions are already underway with all levels of government and several partners to explore potential avenues for collaboration.
Tennis Canada is placing the community at the centre of its approach and remains committed to maintaining an open dialogue with local stakeholders. Consultations will be organized to ensure the project’s evolution reflects the expectations and needs of Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension residents and those who use Parc Jarry.
Our guiding principles provide a shared foundation for the modernization of our stadium. They will shape how we evaluate opportunities, make decisions, and balance the needs of fans, athletes, partners, employees, and the wider community. By staying grounded in these principles throughout the project, we can create a modern, welcoming, and enduring venue that builds on the stadium’s legacy while preparing it for the future.
The project must improve the facilities so they are more welcoming, accessible and enjoyable for everyone who uses the park.
The process aims to enhance green spaces, biodiversity, public pathways and connections, and the overall quality of the site’s design.
The project will be developed through dialogue, consultation and collaboration.
Tennis Canada intends to develop the project by informing and consulting residents, community organizations in surrounding neighbourhoods, institutional partners and the park’s various users. Their input will help shape the thinking, guide decisions and contribute to the project’s evolution.
The project must be designed in accordance with sustainability best practices.
Environmental performance, a reduced carbon footprint, responsible management of water, energy and waste, biodiversity protection, sustainable mobility and climate resilience will guide every stage of the project.
The project must promote public access to the facilities, support organizations in surrounding neighbourhoods, contribute to local economic, social and sporting vitality, and create a lasting legacy for Montréal.
IGA Stadium’s facilities are an integral part of Jarry Park’s community offering. This community role must be maintained and expanded as part of the modernization.
The project will support continuous use by both the community and athletes.
Our ambition is to design facilities that meet the community’s needs through versatile, accessible spaces used year-round, while also serving the athletes who choose the National Bank Open as part of their competitive journey.
