The first of the 2025 Fischer Outdoor Junior National Championships begins with the under 18 boys and girls in Toronto at the Ontario Racquet Club, with the main draw starting on Tuesday.

Mikael Arseneault and Scarlett Nicholson were the 2024 U18 singles winners for the boys and girls, respectively, but are both not a part of this year’s tournament, meaning a new champion will be crowned.

Dani Szabo of Ontario is the No. 1 seed in the boys singles draw, having finished as a quarter-finalist at the U18 Indoor Championships earlier this year.

U18 indoor finalist and reigning U16 outdoor champion Benjamin Azar of Ontario comes in as the tournament’s No. 2 seed. Azar is also the U18 indoor doubles winner, entering the Outdoor Championships as the No. 1 seed alongside Loïc Petrecca of Quebec.

Luke Laughlin and Edgar Vilain are the No. 2 seeds. The all-Ontarian team pair up again after finishing as the runners-up at the Indoor Championships.

On the girls side, Lily Rochon of Ontario is the No. 1 seed in singles. Rochon was a runner-up at the U16 Indoor Championships and was a doubles champion in both the under 16 and 18 draws.

The singles No. 2 seed Ève Thibault of Quebec is the doubles No. 1 seed with Jacey Tian of Ontario. Thibault was a doubles finalist at the U14 Outdoor Championships last year. The No. 2 seeds are Sophie Michelle Dement and Alexie Normandin of Ontario and Quebec, respectively.

The finals will be played on Sunday, July 27.
