Joshua Adamson raked in a pair of titles at the under 16 Fischer Junior National Championships at The Granite Club in Toronto while Andrea Cabio earned her first national singles title.
Adamson’s first triumph came on Tuesday in doubles alongside his partner Caden Colburne of Nova Scotia. The duo didn’t lose a set throughout the tournament, dropping just eight games in their opening three matches before cruising to a 6-3, 6-4 win in the final.

For Colburne, it was his third Fischer Junior National Championships doubles win, hoisting the trophy at the U14 Indoor and Outdoor Championships in 2023.

Top-seed Adamson also had a dominant run en route to the singles final. The Ontarian dropped just 12 games, defeating U18 outdoor singles champion Andy Tchinda Kepche in the semifinal. In the final on Wednesday, Adamson lost the opening set to Callum Mackinnon but rallied to secure the title 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.

On the girls’ side, Cabio’s first Fischer National Championships singles win came in impressive fashion. The Ontarian – who has previously won two national doubles titles – didn’t drop a set in the singles draw to hoist the trophy on Wednesday, beating Payton Charley Dith 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles, Mirka Delaney of Quebec and Jacey Tian of Ontario were crowned champions after a straight-sets win over Romy Grovenor and Ève Thibault in the final.
The U12 Fischer Outdoor Junior National Championships at Carrefour Multisports in Laval are next up on the junior national calendar.
