Vlad Lupu of Alberta earned a pair of titles at the Under 12 Fischer Outdoor Junior National Championships in Laval, QC.
In the boys’ singles, Lupu did not drop a set on his way to the semis where he won a three setter in the final four – the only set he dropped in the tournament.
Lupu battled No. 2 seed Daniel Marinov of Ontario for the title. The Indoor Championships finalist had not lost a set en route to the final and dropped just 13 games. However, the Albertan was dominant in the final, defeating Marinov 6-1, 6-4 to secure his first National title.
In doubles, Lupu teamed with indoor singles champion Aidan Xue of British Columbia, entering the draw as the No. 1 seeds. The duo faced No. 2 seeds Marinov and Marco Bryan of Ontario as the singles finalists also clashed for the doubles crown.
Lupu came out on top again as he and Xue cruised to the title, not dropping a game in the final.

On the girls’ side, No. 1 seed Callie Raharinosy of Ontario looked for her second national singles title after winning the Indoor Championships earlier this year. The Ontarian met Yasmine Souissi of Quebec in the final but the Quebecer denied Raharinosy of the double, coming out on top 6-2, 6-3.
However, the Ontarian didn’t go home without a title as Raharinosy and Janelle Mao, also of Ontario, hoisted the doubles trophy. The all-Ontarian team didn’t lose a set throughout the tournament, defeating No. 2 seeds Emma Antonia Dobrean and Urvi Singh of Ontario 6-2, 6-2 in the final.
