Les Internationaux Junior Banque Nationale de Repentigny, Canada’s premier World Tennis Juniors competition, is underway in the Montreal suburb.
Andrea Cabio has kept the host nation’s hopes alive so far at the J300 event. The Miltonian is the lone Canadian remaining in singles, upsetting two seeds on her way to the quarter-finals. Cabio will play Masa Jankovic of Serbia, who stunned top seed Ksenia Efremova, for a place in the semis.
Avery Alexander was the only seeded Canadian in the draw at No. 10. The Sudburian was ousted by sixth seed Daniella Britton of Great Britain in round three, a match that had all three sets go to a tiebreaker.
Clémence Mercier of Saint-Roch-Ouest, QC, also reached the third round but lost to No. 12 seed Alisa Terentyeva.
Alexander and Mercier are still alive in doubles, though. The Canadians must take down top seeds Renee Alame and Ilary Pistola to book a place in the semifinals.

Cabio, alongside Camille Allegre of the United Staties, sit in the opposite half of the draw. The Canadian-American duo battle Japanese pair Kokona Ishii and Ran Wakana in the quarter-finals.
The boys’ side is led by Leonardo Storck Franca of Brazil. The junior world No. 22 cruised in his only match so far against Canadian Antoine Clavel and now meets No. 14 seed Valentin Gonzalez-Galino of Spain in round three.
Storck Franca and compatriot Pedro Henrique Chabalgoity are the top seeds in the doubles draw, with the Brazilians facing Rihards Neimanis and Kai Thompson, the sixth seeds, in the quarters. The Japanese team of Hyu Kawanishi and Kanta Watanabe make up the second seeds.

The titles will be handed out on Friday, September 4. Last year’s girls’ and boys’ singles champions both went on to win a junior Grand Slam the following season as Efremova was triumphant at the Australian Open, while Luis Guto Miguel won at Roland-Garros.
The last time a Canadian hoisted a singles trophy at the event was in 2021, when Reece Carter and Jaden Weekes won the girls’ and boys’ title, respectively, in the same year.
