Team Canada’s U14 boys fought till the very end, but the squad just missed out on a spot in the 2026 World Tennis Junior Team Finals quarters in Czechia.

The Canucks were swept in their opening tie by Colombia but bounced back the next day, beating Slovakia 2-1. Yvan-Raphael N Mefire needed three sets to get his side off to a winning start, before the Quebecker teamed with Liam Suh to seal the tie in doubles.

The boys then did all they could in their group-stage finale, earning a 2-1 win over Indonesia, but Slovakia defeating Colombia meant that Canada were eliminated based off matches won.

The girls’ run unfortunately ended in the group stages as well. The Canadians tested Ukraine in their second tie, in hopes of staying alive following their opening loss to Brazil.

Brielle Amey took a one-set lead in the second match, with her side down 0-1 in the tie. However, Amey eventually came out short in a tight match tiebreaker but later paired with Joni Colburne to earn the win in doubles and avoid the sweep. Canada’s Group B campaign then ended with a loss to Sweden.
