As a polar vortex approaches Canada, it will bring snowy weather and freezing temperatures that will mark the beginning of winter. However, the wintery conditions do not put a stop to tennis across the Great White North.

Thanks to The Farley Group, year-round tennis is made possible with the manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of their air-supported structures, more known as domes.

“Whether it’s a local club looking to extend its season or a municipality planning to grow community programs, our goal is always the same – to help them create the best possible space to play,” said Jason Abbott, VP of Sales at The Farley Group. “Covering courts year-round transforms tennis from a seasonal sport into a year-round activity. It promotes healthy living within the community, keeps courts in better condition, and expands the indoor recreation footprint.”

The Farley Group have set up more than 500 domes spanning over four continents, including the installation of dozens of indoor-tennis facilities across Canada and the United States alone. The extensive number of domes is due to its efficiency, both in terms of practicality and cost.

“Traditional buildings just can’t compete when it comes to flexibility,” said Abbott. “Construction takes weeks instead of months, which means faster returns and more time spent doing what matters most – getting people playing. It’s one of those rare situations where you really can have it all – performance, durability, and efficiency, without the high price tag of a traditional building.”

With the corporation’s commitment and continuous dedication to making tennis a year-round sport in Canada, it makes projects like the Covered Courts Program presented by Rogers possible.

Tennis Canada and Rogers have come together to provide indoor-tennis facilities coast to coast, from St. John’s, Nfld. to Kelowna, B.C. The program is more than halfway to its goal of creating 160 tennis courts at 30 facilities across Canada by 2029. This will continue to boost Canadian tennis infrastructure and promote ongoing participation in the sport, all under the roof of The Farley Group’s domes.

“For me, the best part of what we do isn’t just building structures – it’s helping grow the sport,” said Lauren Wilmott, President and CEO of The Farley Group. “Every air dome we install means more people can discover tennis, more clubs can expand their programs, and more communities can stay active together. We’re proud to play a role in making tennis accessible and enjoyable all year long.”

As well, Canadians are assured to get the best possible tennis experience once the weather calls for play to go indoors.

“From airflow and temperature control to entrances and viewing areas, everything is carefully designed for both performance and comfort,” said Abbott. “Walking into a Farley dome feels like stepping into a professional facility.”
