We thought it was the perfect time to offer a glimpse into our plans to acknowledge Rogers’ 25th anniversary as one of our most loyal partners whose remarkable impact on our sport can be felt from the grassroots of Canadian tennis all the way to the pro tours and every step in-between.
Tennis fans across the country will probably recognize Rogers as both the title sponsor and now the presenting sponsor of our flagship events in Montreal and Toronto, but their commitment to growing the game and making it more accessible for all Canadians goes much deeper than that. Which is exactly what we want to celebrate on Tuesday, August 4 during the tournaments in both cities.
Rogers First Set Day will shine the spotlight on a national program that inspires youth to try tennis and learn fundamental skills in a fun and welcoming environment. For the occasion, free racquets will be handed out to first 500 kids who come to the Rogers Fan Hub on-site in both cities. Plus, community groups will participate in exclusive on-court clinics at the NBO, and kids enrolled in Rogers First Set will enjoy meet-and-greets with some of their favourite ATP and WTA players. If you’re in attendance, don’t miss the program demonstration on Centre Court and take advantage of $2.50 hot dogs, a fun nod to this special silver anniversary, throughout the day.
Meanwhile, Rogers Night on August 4 will feature an on-court ceremony honouring 25 years of contributions to tennis in Canada through initiatives like First Set, the Year-Round Community Tennis Courts Program which fosters increased participation by building year-round courts in communities that need them most, and the National Tennis Centre in Montreal which is the training home of the country’s most promising prospects who have aspirations of excelling at the sport’s highest level.
Speaking of the best, it’s only fitting that we’re celebrating 25 years of partnership with Rogers during a tournament that not only bears their name, but that also stars Canada’s top players who have directly benefited from Rogers’ support through the years. It will be a full circle moment in more ways than one and you’re cordially invited to take part in the festivities.
