The National Bank Play Your Court Program has surpassed the halfway point towards its goal of renovating 100 outdoor tennis courts by 2030, Tennis Canada proudly announced on Wednesday.
"We are thrilled to share that the National Bank Play Your Court Program has surpassed the halfway point towards the goal to revitalize 100 outdoor courts by 2030," said Gavin Ziv, Chief Executive Officer of Tennis Canada. "Tennis in Canada has shown incredible growth with six million Canadians having picked up a racquet in 2025, seeing an increase of 20% since 2023. Initiatives like the National Bank Play Your Court Program are essential in sustaining the growth of our sport and we are so grateful for National Bank's continued commitment to this program. The growth of this program stems from municipal partners who value providing accessible infrastructure to their communities, while also maintaining a welcoming, safe environment for Canadians of all ages, abilities and skill levels to enjoy the game of tennis. As we celebrate this milestone, we also look forward to building on the program’s momentum as we work towards our goal and revitalize outdoor tennis facilities across the country that are more accessible for all Canadians.”
Following this year's completed projects, the program has revitalized 58 courts so far. The five most recently funded projects that helped the National Bank Play Your Court Program past the halfway point of its goal includes six revitalized courts at the Grand Falls-Windsor Tennis Courts in Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador, two revitalized courts at Folkstone Park and two revitalized courts Palmerston Park in Whitby, Ontario, four revitalized courts at Settler’s Green in Mississauga, Ontario, three revitalized courts at Malvern Park in Toronto, Ontario, and three revitalized courts at the Rebecca Marino Courts at Robson Park in Vancouver, British Columbia. Other previous projects include eight revitalized courts at the Complexe sportif Forage FTE in Sherbrooke, Québec and three revitalized courts at Frank-Gougeon Park in Drummondville, Québec.
The grand opening of the Rebecca Marino Courts at Robson Park was a meaningful event for the program, as Vancouverite Rebecca Marino’s legacy was cemented in her hometown with the introduction of revitalized courts in her name.
“Seeing more than 58 courts revitalized across Canada shows the incredible impact that can be made when communities and partners work together. At National Bank, we are proud to support the Play Your Court program, helping more people enjoy tennis close to home. Each renovated court creates new opportunities to stay active, learn new skills, and come together. We are honoured to support this initiative alongside Tennis Canada.” — Olivier Thibault, Director, Partnership and Sponsorship, Brand Activation, National Bank
Tennis Canada is also thrilled to confirm the projects that are scheduled to open in 2027 which includes four courts at Hillcrest School and two courts at Ridgemont School in Ottawa, Ontario in collaboration with A Love of Tennis, and five courts at Beban Park in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Each project will receive up to $100,000 from National Bank and Tennis Canada to revitalize their existing facilities, working towards the program's mission in matching the growing demand for tennis by providing refurbished, accessible facilities for all Canadians.

“Resurfaced courts are more than a place to play. They are places where dreams begin, confidence grows, friendships are formed, and communities come together. Every line painted represents new possibilities, every rally builds resilience, and every child and adult who steps onto the court deserves the opportunity to belong, thrive, and believe in their potential both on and off the court. At A Love of Tennis, we've seen how a tennis court can become a gathering place where lifelong friendships are formed, families create memories, and individuals of all ages discover confidence, connection, and joy through sport. This investment is about more than revitalizing courts. It's about creating welcoming spaces where everyone has the opportunity to be active, connected, and inspired. Together, we're helping build healthier communities and creating places where big dreams can take shape for generations to come,” said Danielle Smith, Founder of A Love of Tennis
