This week on Match Point Canada, Ben and Mike wrap-up their week-long coverage of the National Bank Open presented by Rogers. It was another scintillating week of tennis here in our country with the world’s best players taking over Toronto for the Canadian Masters 1000 event.

Match Point Canada was granted some exclusive access and had great interviews with the likes of Canadians Gabriel Diallo and Alexis Galarneau, Top-15 seed Hubert Hurkacz and semifinalist Alejandro Davidovich Fokina as well.

In this episode, Mike is joined by NBO Doubles champs Jean-Julien Rojer and Marcel Arevalo who defeated Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury 6-3, 6-1 to claim the biggest title of their partnership to date. The duo jump up from No. 21 in the ATP doubles rankings to No. 7 which positions them nicely for the final Grand Slam of the year at the US Open later this month.

The pair have a ton of positive energy between them on court and, as they mentioned in the episode, have a nice division of labour as well that works for them. Rojer brings the experience and net presence while Arevado has more of the power game and big serve. They both certainly shared their appreciation of having the doubles matches take a more prominent role in the tournament in the semifinals and finals where they were showcased on Center Court.

Ben and Mike also discuss the most exciting moments from the NBO this year including a first-ever appearance in Toronto from Carlos Alcaraz who was received by the fans like an absolute rock star. All the best moments from on court as well as behind the scenes are discussed in what was another memorable week for the podcast on their home soil.
