This week on Match Point Canada, hosts Ben Lewis and Mike McIntyre are joined by tennis journalist Crina Mustafa, who just covered the Canadian Billie Jean King Cup victory over Belgium in Vancouver. Crina is one of the hardest working sports reporters out there and her roles include host and writer for Homestand Sports, the lead writer of The Programme, and also a content creator for The Slice.

Crina talks about the enthusiastic tennis fans that were rocking the Pacific Coliseum to help propel Canada to victory. Other topics covered from the big win were the important role that doubles played in closing out the tie, the clutch performance from Leylah Annie Fernandez in her three match wins, and the overall intelligence displayed by the entire squad en route to victory.

Later in the episode, Ben and Mike look back at a maiden Masters 1000 title from Andrey Rublev over Holger Rune in Monte Carlo. Rublev was a guest on Match Point Canada back in the summer of 2021 while he was playing at the National Bank Open in Toronto.

The guys also discuss the friction between Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev. They look ahead to Barcelona where Denis Shapovalov is the 14th seed. Could the surface switch to clay help him find his A-game as the season progresses?
