The U15 Canadian Prospect Team kicked off a new season this fall, with 14 girls and 16 boys participating in the first set of camps held in Toronto and Montreal. In 2023, the program made its official debut and is now entering its third year, with the continued objectives of supporting promising young players in taking the next step in their development, as well as fostering high performance and a team environment.
“We are thrilled to continue working with some of the best juniors in our country as we welcome back familiar faces and newcomers to our U15 Canadian Prospect Team,” said Jocelyn Robichaud, Head of U15 Development at Tennis Canada. “This program plays a pivotal role in developing our high-performance pipeline, providing players with the opportunity to work with the best staff and coaching team in Canada, who strive to incorporate our program’s four key values: discipline, effort, open-mindedness, and respect.”
Under the guidance of Tennis Canada's high-performance staff and in collaboration with private sector coaches, academies, Regional Training Centres (RTC), and Provincial and Territorial Tennis Associations, the U15 camps, which are at no cost to the players, are designed to monitor, evaluate and analyze key performance indicators for each athlete in order to set individualized milestones. A second set of camps will be held in the spring of 2026, where progress is tracked and re-evaluated.
In addition to the U15 camps, players benefit from better resources to participate in international competitions, which is an important step in an athlete's journey to the top. In 2025, the seven players who represented Canada at the ITF Junior World Qualifiers and Finals – Deniz Karabulut, Milagros Pastuszka, Tessa Sari Puente, Amy Shen, Ilya Sherifali, Isabella Ruyu Yan, and Alden S.K. Yu – were all members of the 2024-2025 U15 Canadian Prospect Team. The girls’ team finished in second place, Canada’s best result in this competition.
Once players have moved beyond the U15 category, the next step in their development may entail attending the internationally renowned National Tennis Centre presented by Rogers (NTC) in Montreal, or one of the three RTCs in Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal. Four players recently named to the new NTC class are former members of the U15 Canadian Prospect Team, demonstrating the natural progression to follow within Canada's development system. They are Caden Colburne, Callum MacKinnon, Andrea Taylor, and Andy Tchinda Kepche.
U15 CANADIAN PROSPECT TEAM (2025-2026)
Of the 14 girls part of the 2025-2026 cohort, 12 are returning players and two are newcomers. Callie Raharinosy, who is on the team for the second consecutive year, has enjoyed an excellent season, winning the U12 Fischer Indoor Junior Nationals in singles and the U12 Outdoor Nationals in doubles alongside teammate Janelle Mao. Rookies on this year’s U15 Canadian Prospect Team, Yasmine Souissi and Vera Wing, won titles at the U12 Outdoor Nationals in singles and U12 Indoor Nationals in doubles, respectively.
On the boys’ side, 12 of the 16 players are returnees. Aidan Xue, who has twice been part of the U15 Canadian Prospect Team, won this year’s singles and doubles events at the U12 Indoor Nationals, partnering with teammate Zalic Tremblay in doubles. Vlad Lupu, also a second-time team member, won the singles title at the U12 Outdoor Nationals and teamed up with Xue to win the doubles crown on the outdoor hard courts in Laval, Quebec.
