Tennis Canada are saddened to learn about the passing of long-time volunteer and staff member Suzanne Brenton at the age of 78.
For more than 30 years, Brenton was a Tournament Manager and Director for the Davis Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, and Junior Nationals – managing the 1992 Davis Cup tie in Vancouver where Daniel Nestor stunned world No. 1 Stefan Edberg.
Brenton was also the Tournament Director for the Steve Stevens Masters Tennis Championships and was in the role from 2006 up until this year’s edition.
“I had the pleasure of working with Suzanne [Brenton] for almost 20 years,” Masters Tennis Advisor Irwin Tobias said. “There wasn’t a more dedicated and passionate person who cared about the National Masters Championships and the Masters players she dealt with everyday. She is going to be missed by everyone.”
In her home province of British Columbia, Brenton has been organizing the Women’s Ladies League program for Tennis BC.
Tennis Canada extends its heartfelt condolences to her family, loved ones, and all the people she worked with and inspired throughout the years.
