Félix Auger-Aliassime looks like he has re-figured out the lawns of the All-England Club.
The third seed at the 2026 Wimbledon Championships is through to the third round of the event for the first time since reaching the quarter-finals back in 2021. With his straight-set win over Dino Prizmic on Wednesday, Auger-Aliassime has won more matches at this year’s event than in the previous four years combined.
Prizmic did his best to hang with the Montrealer and gave him little to work with. But Auger-Aliassime came up clutch when he needed to most, winning all of the big points to get through with a 7-6(2), 6-3, 7-5 victory. It is the first time in his career that the 25-year-old has won back-to-back matches in straight sets at Wimbledon.
This match was all about the key moments and that is where Auger-Aliassime shone. He saved the only two break points he faced, winning 86 per cent of his first-serve points overall, and converted two of his four chances. He was even with 30 winners and unforced errors.

Both men largely cruised on serve in the opening set. Auger-Aliassime faced a bit of adversity in the seventh game, staring down the lone break point of the set but erased it with a textbook serve+1.
Through the late stages, the Canadian faced a little more pressure on his serve than he applied to his opponent, getting pushed to at least 30-all in his last four service games while only winning three return points over the same span. But once the tiebreak started, the third seed seized control. A pair of balls into the net from Prizmic gifted Auger-Aliassime two minibreaks which was more than enough, as he did not drop a point on serve in the breaker, which he took 7-2.

There was nothing between the two men through most of the second set. Through six games, the pair won the same number of points, with each man holding once to love, once to 15, and once to 30.
Like the first set, there was just a single break point chance. This time, though, it was Auger-Aliassime getting a look at 3-4, 30-40, his first break-point opportunity of the day. The Canadian hung in a long rally, showing some impressive defence on the slick grass, before running down a drop shot and finishing with a smash to score the first break of the match and take a 5-3 lead. He easily held in the following game to take a two-set lead.

Now in full control on the scoreboard, Auger-Aliassime remained calm while his opponent got even tighter in the big moments in the third set. First, Prizmic had a break point chance in the fourth game but netted his forehand. Then serving at 5-5, the Croatian double-faulted to go down 15-40. He delivered two big serves to fight back to deuce, only to miss back-to-back routine forehands to gift a late break to the Canadian.
Closing the deal proved a little tricky as Auger-Aliassime missed his first match point and was pushed to deuce, but he outlasted Prizmic in a long rally to bring up a second chance to finish it off and won the longest rally of the match by coaxing a backhand from the Croatian into the net.
Auger-Aliassime will face American qualifier Michael Zheng in the third round.
