Tennis Canada can confirm the recipients of the 2022 Masters Excellence Awards, highlighting a number of fantastic masters players who achieved remarkable results throughout the year. From growing the game to impressive individual and team achievements, a handful of Masters players across the country impressed in 2022.

“We would like to offer our congratulations to all of the recipients of the 2022 Masters Excellence Awards,” said Hatem McDadi, Tennis Canada’s Senior Vice-President of High Performance Development. “Erin Boynton and Keith Porter both excelled as individuals, while two of our Over 70 teams each earned Copper Medals, which is no easy feat. Tennis made some monumental strides in 2022 not only with our pros, but across the entire country of Canada at all levels of play, as clearly demonstrated by the accomplishments of all our award recipients.

Erin Boynton, the recipient of the 2022 Women’s Masters Individual Excellence Award, nearly won a monumental title as she was ousted in the semi-finals of the World Individuals Championship by the No. 2-seed Liselot Pretchel of the Netherlands. She still managed to leave with the bronze medal, marking an incredible accomplishment for Canadian Masters tennis.

Keith Porter, recipient of the 2022 Men’s Masters Excellence Award, dazzled at the World Individual Championships, defeating Rolf Thung of the Netherlands to win the Men’s Over 70 singles Championship final. The last Canadian to hold this title was Kenneth Dahl in 2016.

Finally, Canada picked up not one, but two Copper Medals at the World Team Championships in 2022, with both the Women’s and Men’s Over 70 teams each finishing in fourth place.

As a result, the women’s team comprised of Micheline Berry, Frances Critchley, Anke Magnus and Janice Holloway as well as the men’s team made up of Allard Côté, Tim Griffin, Keith Porter, and Terry Redvers were recognized with our Team Excellence Awards.
