Ellie Black is a four-time Olympic Gymnast representing Canada. While she made history at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games by taking 6th place in the All-Around Final and helped her team secure a 5th place overall finish, it was her support for fellow competitors that the world applauded.
With genuine acts of sportsmanship throughout the Games, Ellie Black was awarded the 2024 Olympic Fair Play Award, which is given to one athlete by the International Fair Play Committee (CIFP) in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The award recognises athletes who exemplify the spirit of fair play, sportsmanship, and respect for others.
She was also recently awarded the Order of Canada in December 2025.
Ellie is the 2022 World Championships Silver Medalist in Beam, and also made history at the competition by helping Team Canada secure its first ever podium finish in the Team All-Around (Bronze). She previously made history at Worlds in 2017 as the All-Around Silver Medalist, allowing her to become the first Canadian gymnast to win a Worlds All-Around medal.
Along with many other incredible achievements Ellie has accomplished over her amazing career, she was named one of the greatest 15 athletes in Nova Scotian history, earning herself the Order of Nova Scotia. She is one of only two individuals to have received this award under the age of 25.
Ellie is widely regarded as the most successful Canadian female gymnast of all time and is known for breaking barriers and supporting women in sport.
