Mélanie Labelle is an active Senior National Team athlete with Wheelchair Rugby Canada and Co-Founder of the National Women's Development Program, the first initiative of it's kind working toward a future women's division at the Paralympic level.
Living with a severe acquired disability since 2016, Mélanie speaks to gender equity in sport from that lived intersection, bringing a fuller, richer perspective to what progress and access actually require. As an Athlete Representative and Board Director with Wheelchair Rugby Canada, a member of the Canadian Paralympic Committee's Athletes' Council, and a member of the COC Female Athlete Health Task Force, she has built her advocacy at the meeting point of disability and women's sport, and takes it as her responsibility to strengthen the viewpoints that shape this space.
