Biography

Robert Watt and his son, Laird, competed together in the father-and-son doubles championship and won the USLTA title three times (1933, 1934 and 1937). Laird, like his father, was inducted into the Canadian Tennis Hall of Fame.

Watt was the President of the Canadian Lawn Tennis Association for nine years from 1937 to 1945. His son Laird later became the President from 1962 to 1963. Watt is the only Canadian to have served as President of the International Lawn Tennis Federation, the world governing body of tennis, in 1957.
