The winners of the 2022 Under18 Fischer Indoor Nationals were crowned on Thursday April 7, 2022 as the boys’ and girls’ singles finals took place at Sobeys Stadium in Toronto, Ontario.
Aleksandar Mitric and Anna-Raphaëlle Serghi took the boys’ and girls’ titles respectively in straight sets solidifying Ontario’s position at the U18 Fischer Indoor Junior Nationals. Mitric defeated Duncan Chan in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 while Serghi defeated Scarlett Nicholson 6-0, 6-3.
The boys’ final was a match between the No. 1 (Mitric) and No. 2 (Chan) seeds. Mitric’s route to the final saw him play the entire tournament without dropping a set, while Chan had similar results until the championship match.
Serghi, unseeded in the girls’ main draw, defeated Sarah L’Allier of Quebec (No. 3) in the third round and Iulia Cristina Bucea (No. 5) in the semi-finals before facing Scarlett Nicholson (No. 3) in the championship match.
The boys’ and girls’ doubles U18 championship matches were played on Wednesday April 6 at Sobeys Stadium. In the Boys’ Championship Match, unseeded partners Liam Drover-Mattinen and Stefan Simeunovic defeated the fourth-ranked team of Matej Kajzer and Stéphane Pierre-Jo Kamendjé 6-3, 7-5. In the girls’ championship match top-seeds Addison Yang Comiskey and Naomi Xu defeated the No. 2 seeds, Ellie Daniels and Josie Usereau, 6-4, 7-6 (4).
