Pastuszka, Karabulut Win U14 Outdoor Junior Nationals Singles Titles

The 2025 Outdoor Junior Nationals season came to an end as both the under 14 girls’ and boys’ singles trophies were handed out on Wednesday at Carrefour Multisports in Laval, QC.

After earning a silver medal as a part of Canada’s U14 World Junior Tennis Finals team, Milagros Pastuszka added gold to this year’s resumé in national championships girls’ singles.

The Ontarian won her round of 16 match in three sets but found another gear from the quarter-final onwards, not dropping more than three games in a set as she was eventually crowned champion, winning the final 6-3, 6-3. Karina Berska of Saskatchewan finished as runner-up after losing just 11 games in the main draw en route to the final.

In the boys’ draw, Deniz Karabulut of Ontario won his first national singles title of the year. The No. 2 seed cruised through the main draw without dropping a set, defeating Nikola Bogojevic 6-3, 6-2 for the championship.

Karabulut nearly hoisted his second National doubles trophy as well, entering as the No. 1 seed alongside Alden Yu of British Columbia. However, the U14 Indoor champions were beaten 6-3, 6-1 in the final by No. 2 seeds Matthew Popa of Quebec and Ilya Sherifali of Ontario.

The girls’ doubles final also featured a battle between the  top two seeds. No. 1 seeds Elisabeth Djabourian and Camille Michel took the opening set but Dongchen Ding of Ontario and Lynn Ke of Quebec rallied to even the match before taking the decisive super tiebreak. The No. 2 seeds earned their first National title, winning 4-6, 6-3, 10-8.
