Play for the 2025 J300 Repentigny National Bank Junior Tennis Championships – Canada’s largest ITF junior event – began on Sunday in Repentigny, QC.

Across both the boys’ and girls’ singles main draw, 40 Canadians will look to become the tournament’s first singles champions since 2021, when a Canuck hoisted the trophy on both the boys’ and girls’ side.

The top-ranked Canadian junior Nadia Lagaev is the girls’ singles No. 5 seed. She is a part of the 16 Canadians in the singles draw who are split evenly between the two halves.

One Canuck already has the task to take down the No. 1 seed as Quebecoise Neda Rahimkhani meets Mika Stojsavljevic in the second round.

Lagaev will also compete in girls’ doubles as the Canadian is partnering with American Adla Lopez, entering the draw as the No. 6 seeds. Clemence Mercier is the only other seeded Canucks as she and her teammate Thara Gowda are the No. 8 seeds and will face the all-Canadian duo of Raphaelle Bruneau and Maya Iacoban in the second round.

The 24 Canadians in boys’ singles are virtually split evenly in each half of the draw. No. 16 seed Volodymyr Gurenko is the only seeded Canuck, receiving a first-round bye. In the same half of the draw, U16 Outdoor National champion Joshua Adamson has the possibility to meet No. 1 seed Ziga Sesko of Slovenia in the third round.

In boys’ doubles, 12 all-Canadian teams look to be the second-straight champions from the host nation after the Arseneault brothers, Mikael and Nicolas, won last year’s title.

Last year’s runners-up, Gurenko and Benjamin Azar, are one step closer to back-to-back finals with an opening-match win. The Canadians set up a second-round clash against No. 1 seeds Sesko and Luis Guto Miguel of Brazil.

The doubles finals will be on Friday, Aug. 29 before the singles finals take place on Saturday, Aug. 30.
