Masters Tennis returned to Canada in February, with the first ITF event of the year taking place in Calgary. It was a great start to the season for the host nation, with Canadians claiming almost every trophy up for grabs.

Here is the monthly Masters Tennis update.

MT200 Calgary

The Yonex ITF Masters Championship in Memory of Hans Maciej kicked off the ITF swing through Canada in 2026, with the Osten and Victor Alberta Tennis Centre playing host to the MT200 event.

Players from the host nation stepped up in a big way. Canadians won 18 of the 19 draws at the event.

Two players won the singles and doubles titles in their respective age groups. Johane Mui came out on top in both women’s 60+ draws, while David Mackenzie did the same in the men’s 70+.

A trio of Canadians won titles across multiple divisions in Calgary. Denise Fernandez walked away with two women’s doubles titles, winning the 30+ with Erin Silverman and the 40+ with Eva Koksalova. The Canadian tandem of Geoffrey Kirbyson and Jeffrey Spiers won two titles together, claiming both the 40+ and 50+ men’s doubles.

All but one draw was won by a Canadian. The lone outlier was the 30+ men’s singles, where American Benjamin David Barad beat top-seeded Canadian Ian Slater in the final.
