Tennis Canada is delighted to announce the appointment of Scott McRoberts as its new Chief Sport Officer (CSO).
A proud Canadian, McRoberts is an established sport executive with over 17 years of senior leadership experience within the Canadian sport system, as well as a strong track record across high-performance, participation, facility development and partnerships. Most recently, he served as Director of Athletics at the University of Guelph, where he oversaw the university’s athletics, intercollegiate and recreation portfolios. Prior to that, he was Director of Athletics and Recreation at the University of Toronto and Executive Director of the Niagara Sport Commission, in addition to teaching sport management at university level for in Canada, the United States and Austria.
McRoberts has an extensive tennis background having played at collegiate level at Brock University, coached at junior nationals in the United States and been heavily involved in several high-profile events as an administrator. He ran operations for the former ATP 250 event in San Jose, California, chaired the wheelchair tennis for the 2015 Parapan American Games and led initiatives to expand tennis programming in schools and communities with USTA Northern California.
As Chief Sport Officer at Tennis Canada, McRoberts will be responsible for advancing a fully integrated national tennis system, overseeing the federation’s high-performance, tennis development, national events, officiating and fund development portfolios. He will report to Chief Executive Officer Gavin Ziv and begins in his role today, Monday, September 28.

Canada continues to establish itself as a world-leading tennis nation, and I am honoured to help move the sport into its next chapter.”
McRoberts joins Tennis Canada at a time when the sport is enjoying strong growth and momentum. In May, a survey conducted by YouGov Canada showed that participation had increased significantly in the last year, with more than one million new players picking up a racquet.
While on the professional tours, Canadian tennis has seen tremendous success over a sustained period, including first Grand Slam singles (Bianca Andreescu, 2019 US Open), Davis Cup (2022) and Billie Jean King Cup (2023) titles, as well as a Canadian champion at the 2025 National Bank Open presented by Rogers (Victoria Mboko) and a Canadian ranked inside the world’s Top 5 (Felix Auger-Aliassime, No. 4 June 2026).
A key part of McRoberts’ remit will be to consolidate and build on this success as Tennis Canada develops its next long-term strategic plan.
Alongside his professional experience, McRoberts holds a Master of Arts degree in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco having completed his undergrad in Sport Management at Brock University. He is married with two sons and lives in Guelph, ON.
