Four weeks, three tournaments, three doubles titles. It does not get much better than that.
Thomas Venos delivered a perfect month in wheelchair doubles, lifting the trophy at all three events he entered, including two on home soil in Eastern Canada.
Here is the monthly wheelchair tennis update.
Venos arrived in the Maritimes with momentum after picking up his second singles title of the year at the WC50 in Gold River, California. It was the Anmore, BC-native's first singles title outside of Canada since April 2024.
He was the top seed in Gold River and cruised through the draw, not dropping a set in three matches. Venos capped off the title run with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over No. 2 seed Francesco Felici of Italy. It was the 10th WT wheelchair singles title of the 27-year-old's career.

“Solid weekend for me here. I’m slowly finding my way back to my best game, which I haven’t been at for the last couple of tournaments,” said Venos after his finals win. “I came into the final with a solid game plan and executed it very well. My opponent started playing much better in the second which forced me to raise my game and I am happy that I was able to get it done.”
Venos struck gold twice at the WC50 event, picking up the doubles crown too alongside compatriot Barry Henderson. The pair lost just nine games on their way to the title. It was the first title of the year for Henderson and second in doubles for Venos before adding two more on home soil.

First up was the WC50 event in Bedford, NS. Venos was the top seed alongside American Conner Stroud and the pair reached the final with a straight-set win over Henderson and his Mexican partner Edgar Vidriales. In the title match, the Canadian-American pair edged out the Japanese team of Keito Nagaro and Iori Terada 4-6, 6-3, 10-3 to secure the trophy.
Just a couple of days later, one province over at the Sure Grip International Wheelchair Tennis Open in Fredericton, NB, Venos and Stroud repeated their performance.

Their run in the New Brunswick capital was nearly identical to Nova Scotia. They once again beat Henderson and Vidriales by a near-identical scoreline to reach the final where they pulled off another comeback against Nagaro and Terada, fighting back for a 4-6, 6-4, 10-6 victory and a second title in a row.
In an ironic twist, Venos reached the singles finals at both Maritime events but lost to his doubles partner each time.
Venos was not the only Canadian winner at the two events on home soil. Hisham Mohammad was the champion in the Bedford quad event, winning all three of his matches to finish atop the group in the round-robin draw. Four of the six sets he won were bagels.
It was the first WT wheelchair title of Mohammad’s career.
Anne-Marie Dolinar was a finalist at the Fredericton event, upsetting second seed Christina Pesendorfer in the first round before beating Isla Gillespie in the semis. She lost to top seed Sally Schwartz in two tight sets in the final.
