Victoria Mboko, Bianca Andreescu, Gabriela Dabrowski, Marina Stakusic, and Kayla Cross have been selected to represent Team Canada at the Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Qualifiers, Tennis Canada confirmed on Thursday.
The Qualifiers will take place at the Beeline Arena in Astana, Kazakhstan on indoor clay courts, where Canada is set to play the Kazakh team in a best-of-five format. The winning nation will advance to the 2026 Finals in September, while the other team will compete in the November Play-offs. Action begins on Friday, April 10 at 2 p.m. local time (5 a.m. ET), and concludes on Saturday, April 11 at 1 p.m. local time (4 a.m. ET).
“We’ve brought together an outstanding team for these Qualifiers, and we’re excited to carry the momentum we built in Mexico into this next stage,” said interim captain Marie-Ève Pelletier, stepping in for team captain Heidi El Tabakh, who is unable to attend for personal reasons. “Kazakhstan is a fantastic squad and one of the top teams in the competition, so we know we’ll have to bring our very best to earn a spot in the Finals. It will be a tough challenge, but we’re ready to compete and give it our all.”
VICTORIA MBOKO
- Victoria Mboko is 16-4 this season, reaching the finals in Doha (WTA 1000) and Adelaide (WTA 500), as well as the fourth round of the Australian Open.
- The 19-year-old reached the Top 10 in February following her run in Doha.
- She will make her third appearance at the Billie Jean King Cup and holds a 5-0 record.
BIANCA ANDREESCU
- Bianca Andreescu has won two ITF titles in 2026, in Vero Beach and Bradenton, Florida.
- Ranked No. 165, she will represent Canada at the Billie Jean King Cup for the eighth time and has an 8-4 record.
- The 25-year-old last played the event at the Finals in 2022.
GABRIELA DABROWSKI
- Gabriela Dabrowski is 14-3 this season, winning a title in Dubai (WTA 1000).
- Following the Dubai title, the 33-year-old climbed to a career-high ranking of No. 2 in the world.
- This is her 21st Billie Jean King Cup nomination, where she has a record of 16-12.
MARINA STAKUSIC
- In 2026, Marina Stakusic has qualified for the main draw of the Australian Open and Indian Wells (WTA 1000).
- Late in 2025, the 21-year-old captured her fifth pro singles title at the ITF W100 Irapuato.
- The world No. 130 is earning her fifth Billie Jean King Cup nomination and holds a 4-2 record.
KAYLA CROSS
- Kayla Cross is a part of the LSU women's tennis team, ranked fourth in NCAA Division I.
- World No. 131 in doubles, she clinched a doubles title this season at the ITF W100 San Diego.
- The 20-year-old will make her second appearance for Team Canada, splitting her first two matches.
