Another week, another career high.
Following Victoria Mboko’s jump into the Top 10 just seven days ago, Gabriela Dabrowski rose to No. 2 in the WTA doubles rankings after striking gold in Dubai, the Ottawan’s sixth WTA 1000 title.
Here’s what you need to know.
In Case You Missed It: Dabrowski, Stefani Hoist Trophy in Dubai
Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani of Brazil were back in the winner’s circle together thanks to their triumph at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships last week. The Canadian-Brazilian duo won their first title as a team since 2022, bringing Dabrowski to a career-high No. 2.
After cruising past round one, the fifth seeds needed a match tiebreaker to solve each of their next three opponents. Dabrowski and Stefani managed to comfortably seal the decider against Marie Bouzkova and Janice Tjen in round two but played through a 26-point tiebreaker in the quarters to defeat Giuliana Olmos and Dubai singles champion Jessica Pegula 6-2, 4-6, 14-12.
In the semifinals, Dabrowski and Stefani met familiar foes Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunic for the third time in as many events, and the Canadian-Brazilian duo served up some revenge, finally taking down the fourth seeds to reach the final.
Dabrowski and Stefani were dominant in the title match, dropping just four games against Laura Siegemund and Vera Zvonavera to cap off the Middle East Swing with silverware.
What to Watch: Andreescu Set to Make Tour Return
Bianca Andreescu will be back on the WTA Tour following her solid stint on the ITF Circuit to begin the season, claiming two titles in three weeks. The Mississaugan’s last tour-level match was against Mboko back in October at the Toray Pan Pacific Open.
Andreescu’s 2026 WTA debut comes against world No. 87 Dalma Galfi at the ATX Open in Austin. If the Canadian can earn her first tour-level win since her heroic effort in the National Bank Open presented by Rogers first round last year, she could battle top-seed Pegula in round two.
Two Canadian women are in action south of the American border at the Merida Open, including Cadence Brace who will make her WTA main-draw debut. The 20-year-old from Toronto faces world No. 81 Zeynep Sonmez in her first match, with third-seed Ann Li waiting in the second round.
Marina Stakusic’s first-round contest in Merida is against fifth-seed Dayana Yastremska. Two wins from both Stakusic and Brace would set up an all-Canadian clash in the quarters.

On the men’s side, Félix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov look to match Dabrowski’s success in Dubai. Auger-Aliassime enters the ATP 500 event as the top seed and is already through to the second round after a 6-3, 7-6(4) win over Zhizhen Zhang Monday morning. The Canadian No. 1 plays Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the last 16.
Shapovalov opens the tournament against former NBO champion Pablo Carreno Busta, with the winner meeting either Arthur Fils or No. 8 seed Jiri Lehecka in the next round.
Canadians have potential to see another all-Canadian quarter-final if Auger-Aliassime and Shapovalov earn a pair of wins in Dubai.
Under the Radar: Lacasse, Arseneault Win Third ITF Title Together
Raphaëlle Lacasse and Ariana Arseneault lived up to their billing as the top seeds at the W35 The Hague, hoisting their third ITF title together and first of this year.

After a walkover in their opening match, the all-Canadian team had to come back from a set down in their semifinal match against Tilwith Di Girolami of Belgium and Lauryn John-Baptiste of Great Britain. Lacasse and Arseneault shutout the Belgian-Brit duo in the second-set tiebreaker before taking the decider to win 4-6, 7-6(0), 10-7 and reach the final.
The Canucks battled third-seeds Valentina Ivanov of New Zealand and Rebecca Munk Mortensen of Denmark for the title and again, Lacasse and Arseneault sealed the contest in the match tiebreaker, winning 6-4, 3-6, 10-5 to secure silverware.
