Harry Marpole was the president of the Canadian Lawn Tennis Association in the mid-50s and was an English-speaking Quebecer. Marpole was also the prime inspiration and source of background knowledge for the writing of “Advantage Canada” a tennis centenary book prepared in 1990 by Tennis Canada.
Marpole was a member of the inaugural Committee of the International Lawn Tennis Club of Canada when it was founded in 1965. A number of other Hall of Famers, Laird Watt, Walter Martin, Gilbert Nunns, Don Fontana, Francois Godbout, Lorne Maine and Bob Bedard were also members of that Committee.
