To be eligible for a masters national year-end ranking in singles or doubles, a player must compete in two tournaments, one of which MUST be the Steve Stevens Masters Tennis Championships. This tournament is graded as an MT700 event level for international ranking points; ITF points will be awarded for the main draw, and consolation (bonus rounds).
Players who are interested in representing Canada on international teams in 2026 should play the Steve Stevens Masters Tennis Championships, August 24 - 30, 2025.
It is advisable for those who wish to be considered for a spot on an international team that you participate in both singles & doubles events in your correct age category. The Masters Tennis Committee will then have information on a player’s overall tennis ability.
Please be aware that all players competing in a masters international team event must obtain an “International Player Identification Number” known as IPIN: http://www.itftennis.com/ipin/
NOTE: An IPIN is required for this event.

Main draw singles matches will be best of three tiebreak sets. Singles draws will include a consolation round (bonus round). You must sign up for the consolation round, immediately after the completion of your main draw match. All doubles main draw matches and singles consolation matches will consist of two tie-break sets with ad scoring for doubles and no-ad scoring for consolation singles matches. At one set all, a 10- point match tie-break will be played to decide the match.
To complete the tournament on time, the Tournament Referee reserves the right to alter the scoring format for ALL matches daily if weather (heat, humidity or rain) makes the playing conditions dangerous for competition, or if matches get backed up creating additional matches for an individual player -on a daily basis. This may include the following, in addition to other possibilities: extending the time limit on the 10-minute break; playing a 10-point match tie-break in lieu of a third set for main draw singles matches; playing short sets or suspending play. In addition, we will be adopting the ITF procedure of a 10-minute break at one set all in main draw singles in all age groups.
As in the past, there will be no break at one set all in consolation singles or in doubles play due to the 10-point match tie-break to be played in those events.
NOTE: If the player is not on court and ready to play at the end of the 10- minute rest break, the player will be penalized with consecutive time violations.
Also, to maintain an equal balance of matches played at each site, the Tournament Committee reserves the right to move matches in any age group to the alternate site. All efforts will be made to give at least one day’s notice of any changes to match locations, whenever possible.
There will be an elimination draw in ALL categories. A category with six entries or less will play a round robin. Categories with seven entries only will play a modified round robin with two groups of three/four players/teams. The winner of each group will play off to win the event. For singles round robins of six or seven players, there will be a play-off for 3/4 and 5/6. If only one or two entries are received, that age group will be combined with the next lower age category, if feasible.
NOTE: It is advisable and important that players play in their correct age group “for ranking purposes” for international team selection.
The basis for seedings is your National Bank Ranking. The seeding guidelines for the Steve Sevens Masters Tournament can be found at https://www.tenniscanada.com/compete-perform/masterstennis?token=yddXTGXw3bJKgnpbhVwCOEuLHJa80JFm&x-craftpreview=34918e03ce374fcc95442d2aec8f7a27aafa8f9144488f96ca1 3c2ba13912ce5oiemjkwxzo
All matches will be played on hard or clay courts.
- Hard courts: Wilson U.S. Open XD
- Clay courts: Wilson U.S. Open Regular Duty
New balls will be issued for the third set in Main Draw Singles matches.
The tournament will begin on Sunday, August 24 and end on Saturday, August 30. Matches will start at 8:30 a.m. and all competitors must be prepared to play under lights, if necessary. Most singles draws will commence on Sunday in order to accommodate the consolation draw.
All players must be available to play on all days of the tournament and to not book return flights until late Saturday August 30 as large draw sizes may create a need for late matches on the final day
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE PREPARED TO PLAY AT THE SCHEDULED MATCH TIME. Due to the volume of matches and complexity of scheduling, it will not be possible to give special consideration for start times.
Prize money will be awarded in each age category to the top three finishers in singles and the top two teams in doubles.
