On Sunday, the all-Canadian team of Bernardo Sousa and Leonardo Viana Frugoni were crowned ITF BT10 Toronto Cup men’s champions at Woodbine Beach in Toronto, ON.
Sousa and Viana Frugoni dominated round-robin play, dropping just nine games in three matches as the No. 1 seeds topped Group A to clinch a spot in the final.
The Canucks battled No. 2 seeds Jesus Emilio Ayala Martinez of Canada and Felippe Cronemberger of Brazil for the title.

In the final, Sousa and Viana Frugoni handed the Canadian-Brazilian duo their first dropped set of the competition after winning in a tiebreak. Then the No. 1 seeds cruised through the second to secure the title, taking the match 7-6(3), 6-2.
On the women’s side, Alisa Belikova and Frenchwoman Ludivine Bodar defeated all-Brazilian duo Aracelli Ghedin Dias and Jessica Leal Eller 6-3, 6-1 to win the title.

As well, on the eve of the Toronto Cup, 30 teams across the men’s, women’s, and mixed draws competed in the first-ever Canadian National Beach Tennis Championships.

- Women’s - Samara Amour (MTL) and Erica Rosenblum (TOR)
- Men’s - Leo Frugoni and Noah Goldstein (TOR)
- Mixed - Samara Amour (MTL) and Jesus Ayala (TOR)
A total of ten courts were utilized over the weekend of beach tennis as the competitions were completely volunteer run.
