Top seeds lived up to their billing at the 2026 U16 and U12 Fischer Outdoor Junior Nationals.
All but one title across both singles and doubles was won by a top seed, with the U12 boys’ doubles trophy being hoisted by the event’s No. 2 seeds.
U16
Ève Thibault doubled up at the U16 Outdoor Championships in Toronto, ON.
The Quebecker paired with Romy Gravenor as the top seeds cruised to the doubles title, conceding only 12 games through their four matches.
Thibault didn’t drop a set in singles play until the semifinals, where she beat Karina Berska in a decisive tiebreaker to set up a match against her doubles partner, Gravenor, for the title. Thibault was dominant in the final, sealing the match 6-0, 6-1.
In boys’ singles, Thomas O’Neill had a slightly more difficult path to the winner’s circle. The Quebecker defeated Callum Mackinnon in the quarter-finals, then had to come back from a set down against Alden S.K. Yu, an Indoors singles finalist in March, to reach the final.
O’Neill battled reigning U14 Outdoors singles champion Deniz Karabulut and got off to a strong start in the title match, taking the opening set 6-1, before clinching the second in a tiebreaker.

Mackinnon and Marc-Édouard L’Allier got their hands on the doubles trophy, beating second seeds Ilya Sherifali and Yu 6-3, 7-6.
U12
Daniel Marinov was close to securing both titles at the U12 Outdoor Championships in Laval, QC, but was one win short of the doubles crown.
Marinov, alongside Lucca Teixeira, upset top seeds Oliver Kin Kai Cheng and Danniel Zheng in the quarters on their way to the final. There, the duo took the opening set against Dominik Janusic and Jordan Martin, but ultimately fell 4-6, 6-4, 10-3 as the No. 2 seeds earned the doubles title.
Marinov dominated the singles draw, conceding just 15 games over his seven matches. The Ontarian scored his fifth bagel of the tournament in the opening set of the final against Yuchen Pan, before wrapping up the title match 6-0, 6-1.
Zoe Mao had just as dominant of a path to the girls’ singles title. The Albertan dropped 17 games en route to the winner’s circle and collected four bagels along the way. Mao capped off her run with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Sophia Deng in the final.
