Eight ITF Junior titles were up for grabs over the last month in Canada and seven ended up in Canadian hands.

The Great White North played host to a J200 event in Montreal and a J100 event in Quebec City in September and the representatives of the host nation very much rose to the occasion.

Here is the monthly junior tennis update by Har-Tru.

The boys cleaned up at the two Quebec events, claiming all four titles.

Dani Szabo reached all four finals across the two events. While he was unable to get his hands on a singles title, losing to Benjamin Azar in Montreal and Xavier Massotte in Quebec City, he managed to claim both doubles titles. He won the first with Massotte at IGA Stadium and backed it up in the province’s capital with Quincy Yao.

Massotte had a chance to double-up in Quebec City, beating Szabo for the singles title and then reaching the doubles final with his twin brother Loic, but they were beaten 10-4 in the match tiebreak by Szabo and Yao.

Nadia Lagaev, Canada’s highest-ranked junior on the ITF tour, was the big star at the Montreal event, claiming the singles and doubles titles at the J200 tournament, matching the biggest win of her career in both disciplines.

The 17-year-old dominated the singles. She was the top seed and did not drop a set on her way to her fourth singles title of 2025, all at the J200 level. Lagaev only lost more than three games in a set once, the final set she played in the tournament to cap off her 6-3, 7-5 win over Karlin Schock of the United States for the title, and dropped a mere 20 games across five matches.

In doubles, Lagaev and her American partner Isabelle Thi DeLuccia were the top seeds and survived a scare in round one, sneaking out the win 11-9 in the match tiebreak. From there, they dominated, losing just eight games in their next three matches to claim the title, Lagaev’s second doubles title of the year.

Clémence Mercier joined the Canadian title rush in Quebec City, securing the girls' doubles title with American Thara Gowda. The pair did not drop a set and secured the title in impressive fashion with a 6-1, 6-0 win over the all-Canadian team of Mirka Delaney and Elicia Lin.
