For the second year in a row, Chris Burr and Tim Griffin scored medals at both the team and individual world championships in the men’s 75+ division. This year, John Payne joined them to get on the podium in the team event.
Team Canada got off to a strong start in the competition, defeating South Africa 2-1 followed by Croatia 3-0 on the first two days of the event to quickly claim top spot in Group B and advance to the knockout stage.
In the quarter-finals, the Canadians defeated France 2-1 to advance to the final four, where they were beaten 2-1 by Germany. In the bronze medal match, Canada beat their neighbour Americans 2-1 to get on the podium.

Canada’s women came up just short of the podium in the women's 80+ division, finishing fourth. The Canadians finished second in Group C, which sent them to the fourth-to-sixth play-off where they defeated Finland and Switzerland.
The following week at the world individual championships, Burr and Griffin ended up on the podium again in the men’s 75+ doubles, this time a step higher as they secured the silver medal. They were the top seeds and cruised into the final without losing more than three games in a set. However, they were beaten in the final by Brian Cheney and David Fish of the United States.
