Canada’s men’s and quad team begin their quest for a spot in the 2026 Wheelchair World Team Cup Final as the Americas Qualification takes place from March 2-6 in Lima, Peru.
The men’s team is represented by B.C.-natives Thomas Venos and Barry Henderson. World No. 34 Venos, who is making his fifth qualifiers appearances, is the highest-ranked player in the men’s draw, while world No. 94 Henderson was nominated for qualifying for the fourth time.
The Canadian men’s side will kick off the event with a best-of-three tie against Argentina. The remainder of the group features Uruguay and Guatemala.
For quads, Shawn Courchesne and Lachlan Sandford don the maple leaf. Courchesne is making just his second qualifiers appearance, while Sandford is set for his debut.
The Canucks will have a difficult opening tie as they play 2024 Quad World Group champions Chile, led by the draw’s second-highest ranked player in world No. 8 Francisco Cayulef. Canada’s next matchups come against Ecuador and hosts Peru.
