Teah Chavez has had quite the jump up the NCAA national rankings in February. The Reginan rose from No. 13 to No. 2 thanks to her unbeaten record in the month so far, becoming the second Ohio State Buckeye currently in the Top 5.
Here is the first monthly university tennis update of 2026.
Chavez’s New Year’s resolution must’ve been something along the lines of how she started 2026. The Canadian has lost just one of her ten completed singles match, sporting a perfect seven wins from seven in the month of February so far.
Over her seven-match winning streak, Chavez conceded just one set, playing in the second position in all but one of her matches. She played in the first position in Ohio State’s tie against the Texas A&M Aggies, battling fellow Canadian Mia Kupres in the Buckeye’s 4-2 win.
Chavez will have one more singles match before the end of the month when Ohio State host Big-Ten rivals the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday.
Duncan Chan remains in the Top 10 after a solid end to 2025 with the TCU Horned Frogs. The NCAA No. 9 won his first two matches in February but came up short in his recent two, losing in two-tight sets against NCAA No. 3 Sebastian Gorzny of University of Texas at Austin then falling 7-6(4), 6-7(2), 7-6(8) to India’s Davis Cup hero Dhakshineswar Suresh of Wake Forest.

Keegan Rice is making a push to join countryman Chan in the Top 10. The NCAA No. 12 is 19-4 in singles since September and only has one loss in six completed matches so far this year.
Rice will play in his first intraconference tie on Saturday as the University of Virginia Cavaliers play the Boston College Eagles in ACC action.

McGill University are currently leading the way in Quebec’s University League.
The men’s side has conceded just one match in 2026, sitting four points clear atop the standings. The Redbirds will have an opportunity to clinch top spot as their final two ties are against Université Laval and University of Montreal who are both tied for second. The Top 2 teams receive a bye into the Quebec Championships semifinals.
The women’s team’s hold of first is slightly less secure than the men’s. The Martlets are two points ahead of Université Laval – McGill has played one more tie – and three ahead of University of Montreal, with their last two ties coming against those two sides over the next couple of weeks.
McGill will need at least one victory to secure an opening-round bye. If the Rouge et Or win at least two of their final three ties and the Carabins win out the rest of the season, they will finish in the Top 2.
