There has been plenty of fantastic tennis going on at the Australian Open, but sometimes the best moments at Melbourne Park take place when the ball is not in play.

In case you were too focused on the physical striking of the ball, here are some enjoyable post-play moments you may have missed:

If at first you don’t succeed

In one of the most heart-warming moments of the week, Alize Cornet got a fully mature silverback gorilla off her back by reaching her first Grand Slam quarter-final.

Fun and Games

The Australian Open is called the Happy Slam for a reason.

Also, I am legally obligated to include all dog-related tennis tweets. So here is Ajla Tomljanovic and her dog.

And look good doing it

Last week, it was Ash Barty and Carlos Alcaraz appearing in the fashion magazines. This week, it’s Maria Sakkari and Shelby Rogers.

Show Stealers

Normally in tennis, the focus is on the two/four players on opposite sides of the net. But remember, there are more than just the players on court.
