2025 may be nearing its end, but Canada’s juniors are wrapping up the season in style.

A handful more trophies are making their way back to the Great White North just in time for the holidays, particularly from a J30 event in Nassau, Bahamas, where Canadian girls accounted for every finals spot.

Here is the final monthly junior tennis update by Har-Tru, which also serves as the 2025 year-in-review of all the Canadian junior tennis action.

The CanCon was heavy at the J30 event in the Bahamian capital in the final week of November. 17-year-old Layla Notta was the big star, winning both the singles and doubles titles, beating her fellow Canadians in both finals.

In singles, Notta was the top seed and dominated, losing just three games and delivering five bagel sets on her way to the final. There, she had a much tougher test against compatriot Alexie Normandin, but Notta managed to sneak out a tight three-set final to secure her second ITF singles title of the season.

Normandin did not leave Nassau empty-handed, as she teamed up with Notta to win the doubles. They won an all-Canadian final over Diana Brustur and Elle Tucci, who themselves had beaten an all-Canadian pair composed of Evelina Nicolaeva and Anvika Saraswathi in the semis.

While the boys were unable to claim either of the winner’s trophies, there were plenty of strong performances in Nassau. Luke Basiji and Julian Mahdavi had the best run, reaching the doubles final. Another all-Canadian pair, Danylo Glinnyi and Luka Radosavljevic, got to the semis. In singles, there was a chance for an all-Canadian final when Radosavljevic and Benjamin Perreault reached the semis, but both Canucks were beaten.

Here is the full list of Canadians who reached finals over the last month (Titles in bold)

  • Layla Notta: J30 Nassau girls singles champion (d. Normandin), J30 Nassau girls doubles champion (w/ Normandin, d. Brustur/Tucci)

As of Nov. 30, Canadian juniors combined to win over 100 titles on the ITF Tour in 2025; 55 in singles and 75 in doubles (counting all-Canadian pairs as one title).

Four Canadians are tied for the most singles titles by a Canuck in 2025 on the ITF Junior Tour with four each: Avery Alexander, Joshua Adamson, Nadia Lagaev, and Xavier Massotte. Lagaev had the biggest wins, with all four coming at the J200 level.

In doubles, Clemence Mercier led the way with five titles, four of them on home soil. Dani Szabo and Enoch Lin each scored four on the boys side.

In total in 2025, Adamson has the most combined titles with seven, adding three doubles titles to his four singles. Lagaev (four singles and two doubles) and Mercier (one singles and five doubles) are tied for the most overall among the girls with six apiece.

ITF Junior events continue throughout December so the final numbers could still change.

Rankings Update

Lagaev went wire-to-wire as Canada’s highest-ranked junior in 2025. She was the only Canadian to be ranked inside the Top 40 this year, hitting a career-high of No. 30 in February after a couple of titles in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She wraps up the season just one spot below that mark at No. 31.

Volodymyr Gurenko is the top Canadian boy at season’s end, sitting just outside Top 100 at No. 105. Nicolas Arseneault hit his career-high of No. 42 in the junior rankings in January, but only played one junior event in 2025 (the US Open), instead choosing to focus on the pros.

Team Canada

After mixed results in 2024, Canada’s junior teams bounced back brilliantly in 2025. All four squads, the Davis Cup Juniors, Billie Jean King Cup Juniors, and both U14 World Junior Tennis teams, qualified for their respective finals after strong showings in the regional qualifying held at IGA Stadium in April.

U14 Team Canada

The U14 girls' team shone particularly bright in the World Junior Tennis finals in August, posting the best result in Canadian history at the competition by scoring a silver medal.
